Running iOS 14 on my iPhone 11 Pro and have Big Sur Beta on a Mac mini, still on Catalina for other Macs in the house that I also frequently use. I will "pin" favorites in iMessage (either on my iPhone or Big Sur Mac), things will be OK for a few days and then those pinned contacts will disappear and I'll have to re-pin them.

Anyone experiencing this?

I am having the same issue. Mainly with the iMessage I have with my own contact; use it as a way to keep notes. Maybe that is why. After a few days it will fall out of the pinned messages area. I know this original post has been a while, have you found a way to prevent it from happening?

The amusing thing is that you can't re-pin it, if you try, the only selection in the menu is un-pin. The OS still thinks it's pinned, it just doesn't display the contact that way. Sometimes if you go ahead and select un-pin, then kill the Messages app, you can re-pin them.

I chalked it up to yet another iOS 14 stupidity, made sure the contacts I was trying to use it with showed as un-pinned, and added the feature to the list of things not to bother with. iOS 14 is, to me, the same as iOS 13, except with many more bugs. There isn't anything on the iOS 14 feature list I care at all about.

I had this issue over and over and I FIGURE IT OUT. It was due to duplicate contacts of those in the Group Message I was trying to pin. I deleted the duplicates and it solved it. I think the duplicates was confusing the system as to which message was supposed to be pinned.
