I upgraded to the iPad mini 7 a couple of months ago. A few weeks in, I started having issues with its responsiveness. If I was using an app, and then tried to switch to internet, I couldn’t get it to connect to any of the websites. The websites would pull up, but I couldn’t get it to respond to touch to navigate within the sites. Eventually, I did the whole turn off, then back on… and it seemed to fix it. I realize that it’s probably good to reboot the iPad every once in awhile. (Although, for the record, I’ve been using mini iPads since they were released, and I rarely turn them off. It’s never been an issue before.).

This morning, I picked up my iPad and turned on the Wi-Fi. (I turn it off every night before bed.). It wouldn’t stay connected. Literally, it connected, then disconnected two seconds later, then reconnected, then disconnected. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. I took a video of it. I checked my router. Seemed to be fine. I picked up my old iPad mini 5, and it connected to the Wi-Fi with no issues. No other device seemed to have a problem. I tried turning it off and then back on, but it didn’t help. Is anyone else having issues with their iPad mini A17, or is it just me? I wonder if I got a lemon.

Thanks. I don’t know what that is, but it’s promising to know that you haven’t had any other issues. I’d be more inclined to exchange it.

I think there’s some latency setting up the connection to the private relay servers… performance is pretty excellent after that initial hesitation.

I would set up as new and if the problem continues, contact Apple.
I’m kind of scared to hold on to it. The return policy only gives me another week, and since this issue took almost two months to present itself…. I wonder if I can still get Apple care.

I have run into the same WiFi bug with my M4 Pro which I’ve been trying to recreate. A reboot of both my router and iPad cleared it up.

I got it at Costco, so I can still return it. I’m trying to decide if I should return or exchange for a new one.
I would exchange for the new one, just anticipate hardware weak/issues. Your experience is uncommon. Mine has solid stable connection and connect quite fast (under half sec or less) - iPadOS 18.1.1.

I don’t have that iPad but I agree with people advising to reboot router, iPad, iCloud private relay or even VPN or DNS. You may also reset network setting first before needing to reset your iPad.

The advice still appies even if you replace your iPad and still get same problem.

My wife has an iPad mini 7 and uses it nightly for watching content. She hasn’t experienced any issues with connectivity at all. I’d recommend the same as some others have and say you should probably exchange and try a new unit.

I don't expect everyone's WiFi to work the same way but for me - using my M1 Studio Max as reference, I was able to get nearly the same speeds for downloads and maybe slightly better (just megs) for uploads.

Generally no wifi issues here with Mini 7.
Reboot and/or also reset network settings.
Also can be setup as new (full reset).
