Anyone here dual boot Snow Leopard and Yosemite?

I was looking through a bag of install CDs I have and came across my copy of Snow Leopard and this got me thinking - does anyone here dual boot Snow Leopard and Yosemite?

If you do, do you have any problems at all? I would be interested in doing this on my MacBook Pro (info in signature).

I dual-boot the two on my 2010 iMac (although I haven't used SL in a while).

You will only be able to do it if your MBP is compatible with Snow Leopard. Based off the specs you provided in your signature it looks like a mid 2012 and therefore it can't.

As mentioned your MBP cannot run SL. Typically the oldest version of OS X that can run on a Mac is the version that it was installed on it, when you bought it. There's a few exceptions from time to time, but that's the general rule of thumb

I didn't know that actually. Thanks for the info.

It is a shame. I'm off work for a few days and would have like to have worked on this as a project of sorts.

The latest macbook pro generation that can run snow leopard are the late 2011 models (officially though, the last gen to include snow leopard are the early 2011 models.)
I have a 17" 2.5ghz late 2011 gen MBP and (technically) it came with lion. But, if you have a late 2011 model and a 10.6.6 disc (from an early 2011 macbook pro model - nothing earlier than 10.6.6 will work), you will be able to install and use SL just fine. This is because with the exception of the bumped up in ghz, the early and late gen 2011 mbps are the same. Both have sandy bridge processors.

i just wiped my 2009 mac mini and created 3th bootable partitions and reinstalled my Snow Leopard on one and Yosemite on another.
BUT i find that Yosemite finder DOES NOT recognize my Snow Leopard partition in the side bar or on my Yosemite Desktop.

I have to use the Option Key when re-booting to Either OSX.
don't really like Yosemite appearance.

That's odd... Have you tried to mount it in Disk Utility?

Those that have the need for Snow Leopard to regain access to Rosetta for running PowerPC applications use Snow Leopard Server installed into a virtualization program
