If I am trying to erase the settings for a certain tweak and restoring as new, what do I look for in ifile? I am trying to get SwipeNav to work in Messages and it's supposed to with the new JB.

As far as I know just uninstall from cydia, in ifile go to var/mobile/library/preferences and delete the tweak that you removed then exit ifile, respring or reboot, I usually reboot then reinstall tweak from cydia. Hope that helps;)

So once I do this, I should be ok to restore from backup in iTunes or do I restore from backup and THEN delete the plist file?

I can't find any plist file in that folder that is called SwipeNav. Is there anything else it might be called? If not, does this mean I have done everything I can do?

the file isn't exactly swipenav but there should be a plist file in there that has swipenav in it's name or something related to it

that is, assuming you have installed that tweak previously or restored from a backup that had that preference file

Anyone here know anything about plist files or how to use ifile?

Go here and delete the preference file for swipenav. Then reinstall swipenav.

No need to restore.

I did this, it still doesn't work. And another poster did the same thing with the same results. Why did you tell me it worked on the 4S when it clearly doesn't? I'm extremely frustrated right now, I just spent hours messing with this and my phone was working fine before, now several things have been changed for the worse with this update.

I'm pretty sure this was an accident. The poster is always very helpful and tries to help others, just like how he's been trying to help you. I'm confident that when he said it worked he truly thought it did and made an honest mistake. I don't think there was any malicious intent.

I didn't think there was malicious intent, just frustrated that now I'm stuck with the updated software that has several things I don't like. I'm sure he meant well, though.

Yea I hear you. Well hopefully whatever differences you are experiencing can be fixed with updated tweaks. Never hurts to ask the devs.

Were you on iOS 6 before and that's why swipenav worked in the messages app?

Or

If you were on 7.x I don't see how it worked in the messages app since swiping from the right causes the timestamps to show.

Yeah that's what I was hoping...one of them seems minor but is actually very distracting - the shift/caps lock key coloration. The bold black stands out and is kind of bothersome, I don't know why they changed that. It was perfect before.

The other is the sped up animations, it conflicts with accelerate now to where there's no happy medium. I tried that one you suggested as well as Springtomize but neither effected the multitasking gestures, only accelerate but it makes the swipe up to close a different speed then the rest of the animations. Ugh.

I never said it had worked in the Messages app for me anytime recently, it hasn't worked since I updated to iOS 7.04 from iOS 5.01. I would've stayed on 7.04 had I known it didn't work on 7.1.2 either in light of other undesirable changes.

Regarding the shift key/caps lock, I recently saw on Reddit someone request a tweak to put it back to how it used to be. I'll see if I can find the thread tomorrow since I'm going to bed in a few minutes. Maybe someone will release a tweak for this since I'm willing to bet you're not alone.

Oh okay this explains a lot.

Awesome! Thanks, yeah someone else also mentioned it in another thread in agreement. Awful design choice.

i don't think it's this one but I can't seem to find that thread that you were referring to (I remember seeing it)

I'm with you, I don't think it was that thread but it's a starting point for the OP. Luckily I adapt easily to changes and frankly, I welcome them haha. I don't theme at all so I love when Apple either makes big or minor changes just to switch it up from the norm. I'm a huge fan of iOS 7. I'm always surprised by people when they prefer to stay on an old OS. I love new technology haha

I think a lot of people are like that. We like gradual changes, not so much drastic changes. Drastic changes usually means a huge initial learning curve

For example, that's the main reason I'm sticking with Windows 7 as opposed to Windows 8

For iOS devices, the urge to update (for me) really comes from how locked down Apple is on in regards to what version you can go to

To the OP: try ryan petrich's vintagekeys? I haven't tried it yet but see if there's a native iOS 7.0.x keyboard to it
