I've a US iTunes account with balance but when I try to sign up to iTunes Match it requests I confirm a US credit card or Paypal account...

Has anyone managed to sign up for Match without this step?

You have to be in the US for it to work currently. They're working on expanding it to other countries but haven't done so yet.

I believe I heard it was expected to be some time around January-February for the UK.

As far as I know, it's not possible to activate it without entering the number of a valid credit card issued in the states. But this should be easily confirmed by asking the americans on this forum if anyone has been able to activate it on an Apple ID without having a credit card connected to it.

I think thats pretty much it...either go the prepay US $ card way or wait...its not *that* important to me so I guess I'll wait for the international release!

I got it working in Canada using a prepaid CC that I registered to my old US address. The US iTunes library is much better in selection than the Canadian one anyway.

So do the vanilla visa gift cards work? the one I have on iTunes won't let me buy iTunes match, I have 130 dollars on the US account and that visa gift card hasn't expired.

I had 90$ in my iTunes US account. I then bought a Vanilla Mastercard (not visa), registered it to a US zip, and used it to activate. The funds were taken from my store credit.

PS: At first I had trouble with the card, iTunes would give me a security code error, but once I called from my US google voice number the number on the vanilla webpage and ask for my remaining balance, the transation went through without a hitch (I mention this because there may be a problem with the card itself; it seems iTunes only wants a US CC, so if yours doesn't work there must be a problem with the card itself).
