the screens busted on my mac book pro 17". Does anyone know whether its worth trying to replace it myself and how to go about it?

if you want to you can pay $549 to have it replaced by either of these places:

TechRestore
or
MicroReplay

thats probably the cheapest you are going to find to have someone replace it for you.

wheras a 17" screen on ifixit.com is $899!!

thanks very much to you both.
the walk though on ifixit covers removing the clam shell but doesn't go as far as getting inside it. I'm pretty sure it just needs a wire as it flickers on and off if I apply pressure to the left hand side of the screen. Don't seem to be able to find the cable seperate on ifixit.
Does anyone know who actually makes the screens, I could go to them and maybe get a cable?
