Does anyone know how to network a Mac Mini M1, to a Mac Pro 5.1 either by cable, wifi or both?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

The Mac Mini is running Monterey and the MacPro I believe is running High Sierra 10.13.6 (hope that helps.)

presuming you are connecting to the internet with both devices using the same internet access, you should be able to go to your system preferences and then go into “sharing” and then select “file sharing” . Configure what drive(s) you want to share or have access to on each machine, and then select the users and make sure they have read & write access. Then under the Go Menu in Finder, select “connect to server” and use the computer names that were listed in the sharing preferences for each computer you‘re wanting to connect to… at that point you should have a window pop up showing the hard drive names on the computer you are wanting to access… navigate to the folder you want to access and copy or place the data you are wanting to share…

What @TightLines said in Apple how-to guide form:

FYI: In case it’s overlooked, you can select which macOS version the instructions are for via a drop-down menu near the top of the page.

Nice! I didn’t know Apple provided instructions.

I’m curious, does enabling/activating File Sharing automatically configure networking? When I setup computer-to-computer (Mac-to-Mac) via Ethernet to play LAN-based multiplayer — back in the days when consumer/home routers/switches weren’t common -- I needed manual, static TCP/IP configs.
