Hi,

I have a 2016 15 inch Macbook Pro and a mid 2014 21.5 inch iMac. I want to use my iMac as a second display for my Macbook, however the thunderbolt port on my Macbook does not work and I cannot pay to get it fixed right now. Does anyone know of a way I could achieve this without using the thunderbolt port on my Macbook?

Thanks in advance.

An Apple TV allows wireless streaming to it, it is just a question of whether the HDMI of the Apple TV output can be converted to DisplayPort.

A quick search https://apple.stackexchange.com/que...-imac-in-target-display-mode-with-an-apple-tv shows that you might as well buy a cheap 21 inch monitor, as the conversion from HDMI to DisplayPort will be about the same price, and you can use the monitor for other things.

You could look into USB video cards, but it might be difficult to find one with DisplayPort output.
