iPad mini Anyone know if the new iPad mini 5 has an NFC chip for in-store ApplePay?

I am thinking of upgrading, and one feature I really like on my moms phone is ApplePay support. Only a few articles on the web talk about NFC on ipads, and its generally that they lack an iphones NFC chip, or if they do that it is not enabled.

So those of you with an ipad mini 3 or 4, do you have full applepay support going in a store, or is it limited? Does anyone know if the bucket of leftover parts they added to this years mini includes an NFC chip for AP?

My mini is my voip phone due to GUDP (Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan), so I never plan to change to a phone.
