looking for a good speed dial app that puts the contact on your home screen. i downloaded one touch dialer and it's pretty decent except that the icons are not very attractive.

my dream app would be one where by you can use the contact's photo as an icon on the home screen and pressing it would call him/her immediately.

Interesting idea ... but I don't have any info for ya. Sorry.

As a point of interest - is setting the double-click home button function to phone favorites not fast enough?

OH! i didn't know i could do that! thanks! i guess i don't need a speed dial anymore, but i do think the photo as an icon is a pretty neat idea. too bad i have no idea how to develop application, or i might make a fortune one day!

Yea, it is a pretty a neat idea. And a beat an idea many people would pay something for.

Learn the iPhone SDK and maybe you'll make a little cash money!

If your iphone is jb there is a program called "Call Me" in Cydia. It uses your picture that is assigned to a contact as the icon. It works pretty well. I did not upgrade to 2.2 from 2.1 yet so I am not sure if it works with that.

I'm happy with OneTapDial, which allows you to pick an icon for each number you want to put on the screen. If you allow, it will also put the first name of the contact under the icon. It goes through Safari, so there is a brief delay, but you don't have to be on the web to use it. It's free right now.

I also have copies of Speed Dial #1-Speed Dial *4, which let you associate a different contact with each one. With these there is no choice of icon and you don't have the customized label. They work about the same way. These are free and the developer says they always will be free.

one tap dial is ok, just that the icons they provide to assign to your contacts are really ugly
