We could make it one by calculating how many M1 minis we would need to get the same performance in 2021 vs 2010.
One could but that misses that the real reason the link all these systems together in a computer room is to make a fast pipeline with a lot of steps having little to do with graphics processing.

One M1 Mac mini could handle it, no problem. Probably even one with 8GB of memory, cause, you know it’s better at handling memory than Intel Macs were.

Back in 2009-2010 I read a article about the Avatar music score being created with Mac Pro’s of the time and Pro Tools.
Here’s a article that describes it at the end of the article and the difference between doing Titanic and Avatar and the technological advancements that’s occurred between the 2 films.
It describes a Mac Pro with 16Gig of ram.
