Hoping to get an 11" with i7 4GB and 128GB. Its not "ultimate" because I diont want the 256GB but I do want the i7 option.

I just called the Fifth Ave. NYC store and the woman told me that they've "been known to carry 'ultimate' models historically" but past that couldn't tell me anything more specific.

If we base it on the current MBA offerings, you're going to get the base model, the base with a RAM & SSD upgrade, and then the ultimate which will include the processor upgrade.

I spoke with reps at a couple different stores in my area (SoCal) and none of them said that theyll have the ultimate version and it was a BTO option only. The Apple Store online says that it's a BTO and only available online as well.

I think it's different from store to store then. Both Toronto Apple stores told me they were getting Ultimates, though Apple store staff aren't the most reliable source. That said, this guy got an ultimate at an Apple Store, so we know that ultimate configurations are being sold in store for sure.

Hmmm then I guess it is from store to store. I'll call some other stores in my area (there's a lot) and see if I can find any with i7 tomorrow.

Stores that have a lot of traffic usually carry ultimate configurations, so that would be a good place to start. They'll probably also have the most stock.

Thx guys but I think what you are saying is that I am out of luck puchasing in a store since I want the i7 and 128GB which is not base or ultimate.

Pretty much, just because your particular configuration isn't a "popular" one. No harm in calling around though - who knows right?

True. I'd just get the ultimate if I needed it but have 80GB free on my 128GB now so I just can't justify 300 more for the 256GB. If it were 100 or 150 more I'd do it.
