Anyone know why MS Word is $6.99/month thru Apple Store vs $5.99 through Microsoft

I'm trying to figure out why I'm paying $1 more per month because I own an iPad 12.9". I've always paid $6.99 but today saw that from MS Store it's $5.99. Can we buy through the Microsoft site?

On MS site it states for the Personal Plan: "For one person, across all your devices."

Yes. You can also buy directly through MS.

When you say through Apple Store do you mean the App Store? Probably the same as Spotify then. Apple takes a cut of things sold on the App Store (just like any storefront). That expense, MS and Spotify apparently push to the user. Or for the MS/Spotify fans, the savings from buying directly from them gets pushed to the user. - Just a case of perspective

Are you paying $6 a month just for Word? You can get the entire Office 365 for a year for $69.99 at Amazon.

That is 365 through the app. Personal 365 is $6.99/month and Home is $9.99

But agree cheaper ways to get it than paying that mothly fee. The $5.99/month through MS direct isnt much different at $72/year. Apple just needs their cut and adds the $1/month.

I have the Office 365 Home for my family and have managed to get it for one year for $80 the past two Black Fridays - hopefully it's on sale again this year.

I think it's just MS passing on Apple's App Store fee (30%) to the consumer. Can't blame them for that.
