I am still in dubio about buying one. Books on ipad are certainly very important. Any idea when iTunes books will open? And anyone knows how big it will be?
I'm assuming launch day, 28th May. The store is quite small at the moment, there have been some grumbles about not having a wide range, but of course, it'll take time to increase the content.

I would not assume that. The individual publishers control content so I would not assume at all that all the American iBooks will be available. Coming from a Kindle I find the Kindle app to be very usable on the iPad and you can access their library as well (Kobo is also coming). I would guess that between the 3 you'd be well covered, but no single reader app will have it all.
I can't comment on the number of titles available, but Apple has official confirmed that iBooks and the store will launch on the 28th of May. They gave this information at the same time as they gave the iPad release date during the press release.
It'll be the 28th. Would make sense to have one of the big selling points for the iPad to be out at launch. That, and making the iPad part of the app store easily browsable. It's annoying that it isn't already.
