Anyone order an R5?

If you did, has it arrived yet? I ordered from B&H (body only) back in July (24th) and I'm still without. I've seen anecdotal evidence of people ordering in September getting theirs from B&H, but no hard proof.

Lucky ducks who ordered from Canon, but alas I just had to do 0% financing.

And if you've gotten yours already (from anywhere) --- how is it? is it everything you dreamed of? My 1D IV is sitting in it's bag counting the days...

I am willing to guess that you should get your R5 not later than mid November. It seems that Canon has released both the R5 and R6 in limited quantities, and these probably are snatched by professional bird and wedding photographers before they hit the shelves. More than likely the R5 and R6 will be on the shelves before Christmas, at which time I will order the R6 from B&H. But it probably won't be on a Canon discount.

Rumors, rumors: Nikon will probably release its version II offerings by Christmas, and will probably sell a lot of them since they are cheaper than the two Canon mirrorless cameras above. Nikon users will get a great deal, maybe a discount?

The only negative I have seen so far is the overheating issue when recording 4k. Other than that all signs seem positive so far. Hope you get it soon.

Overheating would not be an issue for me since I will be using it only for photography. I had been waiting for a Canon 5D V with the newest sensor, but Canon won't be producing the 5D series. That only left me with one new sensor plus focus accuracy choice, a 1Dx III, which is way out of my price range. I wild be using the R6, during the local sled-dog races (Alaska), taking photos of the auroras, people, pets, and wildlife. I will be using the EF L lenses I already have, up to 400mm.

About the overheating issue: there are reports from persons indicating that both the R5 and R6 don't have temperature sensors, and that the time limits is set by algorithms in the firmware. But again, overheating should not be an issue for me.

I hadn’t heard about dpreview but I went over and check out some of their forums and it matched up with what I had been seeing on canon rumors and other places around the web. well I had planned on Billing the purchase to myself as a Christmas gift, I was just hoping it would arrive earlier than Christmas haha. I’m just fortunate I still have my mark iv to use until the new guy arrives

Yeah I’m totally not worried about overheating either, as I do absolutely no film, and if I ever did I’d use 1080p or whatever didn’t have a heat limit. Totally in it for the stills alone.

I ordered with B&H, waited, then saw they were available on canon-usa and ordered there, got it that week and canceled B&H. I've had it over a month now and absolutely love it. I have not tried the video features yet.

I ordered with B&H, waited, then saw they were available on canon-usa and ordered there, got it that week and canceled B&H. I've had it over a month now and absolutely love it. I have not tried the video features yet.

I've been scouting canon but even if it came in that way I went BH specifically to finance it through their card no interest. Might just end up doing that though if I can catch it when they're in stock.

Same here. I have a Nikon Z6 and Sony RX100m7 (amongst other things) and I had a Fuji X-H1 for a while.... apparently they are all great for video..... no clue this end... lol.. when it gets to reviewing video capabilities, might as well be talking about Marmalade sandwiches... ha ha ha...

Agree. While I could have taken videos with the two Canon cameras I have been using for a few years, but I am not interested in that. Video (or filming), at least to me, isn't in the same league as photography (I am not that good). Now, a wedding photographer could probably benefit from having an assistant taking care of the "video work" with another camera.

just checked and saw that yes indeed the r6 is in stock and ready for shipment. Alas, I had to go for the larger pixel count!

I am buying the R6 without kit lens, a Canon EF/RF adapter, and two 64GB cards. The R5 will probably need larger cards, however. I don't need another high capacity battery for it, since I have a couple of spare batteries I sometimes use with a Canon 7D, and 5DII. These batteries are of lesser capacity, but they work fine.

As of now, it's on back order at B&H for a couple of weeks. Adorama may have some left, and probably Amazon. But B&H, and Adorama don't have any of the EF/RF mounts that I want (the $99.00 one). I missed my chance to buy a R6 at B&H by a few hours, so I will have to wait.

Edit Friday 23 October: B&H had a few more R6's on the shelves, so I purchased one. However, the EF to RF adapters are out of stock in most major stores. It means that all I will be able to while I wait for the adapter, is to charge the battery and play with the camera settings for a period of "2-4 weeks"!

It looks like Canon is covering all the market bases in relation to mirrorless photo and video with the R5 and R6, but for those who are interested mostly on video, Canon is releasing the EOS C70. In relation to lenses for the R5 and R6, Canon has done something to please its users, and that is a series of relatively inexpensive lenses. For example, the RF 800mm f/11 costs under $1,000. I wasn't planning on buying any RF lenses since I have EF lenses up to 400mm, which was fine with the 7D's cropped sensor. However, I could use this lens to stretch the distance, since the R6 is a FF camera.
