guess I'm the only one.
It now says on their site shipping in Jan/Feb. That should give enough time for more display options and for my bank account to catch up from Holiday spending.

I would agree with Einz, I have tried several times to compare Apple vs third party resellers on new releases (I have ordered from a local store or other online shop while a friend bought directly from apple, or the other way around). Getting it from the third party reseller has ALWAYS taken a few weeks more.
Apple seems to usually ship their own preorders first, or at least give very few units to third party resellers, until they caught up on the production. I wouldn't expect delivery until at least February.

Which would be the same delivery time frame if I were to cancel and go with apple at this point
I was going to order from B&H photo because they have always done right by me, they are usually a touch cheaper than Apple and often throw in some free stuff like a copy of Parallels or Elements.
But they are only taking pre orders as well.

Totally didn't expect this. I'm sitting at my desk and my doorbell rings, and there it is on my porch (UPS man was walking back to his truck, I guess he knew I was home since my little dog was outside).
I am super excited, didn't expect this before February. Don't have a 4k monitor yet so I may hook it up to my plasma just to get it all set up.

Which is exactly why I stuck with them. Even with an edu discount I still saved almost $200 due to not having to pay taxes and using their preorder coupon.
Apple is getting a huge margin on these things.
We obviously can't speak for other resellers but we have been getting allocation and filling pre-orders.. Have seen more of MD878LL/A than ME253LL/A though...
