I am waiting to order an iMac with Leopard pre-installed...

Just noticed today US & Canada online stores now show Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard under Operating System tab for Included Software. It was Tiger up to yesterday.

Has anyone ordered with confirmed Leopard pre-install?

Thanks.

Likely to be a few weeks yet. Just got an new iMac at work yesterday, but Leopard DVD was just dropped in the box - Tiger was installed.

Lucky you at least got a copy of Leopard in the box...there was nothing in my box! Last I checked, I ordered an imac PREINSTALLED w/ Leopard! I am a very passionate Apple fan, this is the first time they have pissed me off big time!
:mad::mad:

I ordered my imac the day after leopard came out, a cto option and it still had the disk in the box for me to install. Its not that hard to install leopard, I don't see why people are so up in arms over have it preinstalled

Just to clarify, I'm pissed because I didnt even get Leopard in the box! Now I have to wait for them to ship it which will take some time I'm sure. The whole experience is kind of tainted now. Bad vibes from the get go. :(

Just received my imac that was shipped on Monday it has a drop in disc which is fine with me. I'm upgrading it to Leopard now. Took about an hour on my macbook, hope it's a little quicker on the imac

I ordered my iMac five minutes after the Leopard release and got it Wednesday with Tiger installed and a drop-in disc of Leopard in the box.

In my case (OP), I am just not comfortable doing a clean install and pulling out iLife suite and all the other goodies from Tiger discs. Is that what you folks did and how long did it take?

I hear simple upgrade is not the best option to install Leopard even on brand new machine. Is that right?

Thanks.

I'm guess it is now preinstalled. They changed that OS info yesterday. I can't imagine why they would change it if it wasn't preinstalled. The tech specs also say the OS is Leopard. I'm not sure if they can say that if it's not installed on the computer. A friend just ordered his iMac so I guess I'll know next week if I'm right.

I upgraded from Tiger, on my MB. It just does not seem to work right, boot and shutdown times are two times what they were in Tiger, but everything seems to work fine though. Applications load faster than before, and screen effects are also faster. I'll think about a clean install

I spoke with an Apple sales rep and he asked me to call back next Wednesday to confirm ordering a Leopard pre-installed machine. I am willing to wait another 5 days although I am not sure how accurate this is.

Pls let us know if your what OS on your friends machine when it arrives.
