I definitely am planning on keeping it naked! getting the 256gb Gold and that gold finish is just beautiful! too gorgeous to hide with a bulky case. Getting Applecare with theft or stolen, just in case I drop and crack it. I currently carry my X naked as well and it feels really great. I can only imagine how much better the XS Max feels naked in the hands!

I love the feel of iPhones without a case and screen protector wrapped around it. But I have to protect them the best I can, as I resell them, or trade them in, every year in order upgrade. But at home sitting on my bed I take it out of the cover.

I've never put a case on any iPhone, and I've had every flagship model since launch (including all the Plus sized models). I'm currently using a X, and my 512GB Max delivers on Friday. No cases ever, and that includes the new Max when it shows up. I really enjoy the look and feel of these phones and want to be interacting with this precision engineered marvel directly rather than a piece of cheap plastic.

I have one pocket dedicated to my phone (front left). Nothing goes in that pocket other than my phone and my hand. Not even receipts -- this way I never have to make a judgement call. I don't set it on hard surfaces. That's it. I get full resale value at the end of the year because the phone still looks basically new ... usually newer than phones that have been in cases as cases have a tendency to develop a lot of extra micro-scratches on the phone due to grit that builds up in the case.

I went naked one time and ended up with a broken screen. The other times with a minimal case, no broken screens

^This 100%!!!

My iPhone always goes in my front right pocket and nothing else. Also, I never wipe my phone with any cloth, not even micro fiber. I usually just clean it with some water and dab soft tissue or paper towel to dry it off. My x still looks great no major scratches or anything.

Ok, you guys have got me thinking. I might go for this method (again). Maybe we all try it at some point, but in the end get nervous. But apparently, it's doable.

Good luck! I definitely have dropped my iPhones severals times before and I just paid to get them fixed. With AppleCare, its chump change really lol. But each drops Ive learned from. I am just always extra careful now. Like, I've dropped my phones going down the stairs before and now I make sure to never use my phone while walking up or down the stairs lol. Also getting out of the car is prolly the worst, but now I just make sure to feel my phone in my pocket to make sure it is there before getting out of the car! Being extra careful is definitely worth it for me, I just love the feel of this beauty!!

I plan too. However, I can sometimes have really oily/greasy hands (lotions, cocoa butter, hair grease, etc), so the glass can get smudgy and slippery. So I'll probably end up using a matte thin 3mm case just to provide some grip.

Did apple have that Belkin machine for installing screen protectors on the day of the X's launch?

I assume it's easy money for them to have it ready but would really slow down the lines for everyone.

Is the marginal resale difference really worth missing out on the naked experience? For trade-ins, it doesn’t matter at all, as long as the screen isn’t cracked. Normal wear and tear is fine. But for resale, the difference still isn’t much, because it’s still used.

Go naked, as the phone gods intended!

Always no case, XS max on order and not intending to change this. I usually have one on hand for hazardous scenarios (usually involving alcohol).

The last phone I dropped and smashed was an S7 edge, I know it will happen again but the benefit of no case to me is worth the risk. Case vs no case is 2 different phones for me.

I don’t care for cases. Now that’s smart phones are getting larger, they’re already big enough to carry in your pocket as it is, cases add that much more bulk then I care for personally, I carry the iPhone exactly as it is out of the box.
