I'm thinking about getting a MacBook and the $100 rebate that Amazon is offering is really tempting me right now. I just have a few questions for anyone who might know.

1. When should I expect Amazon to get the MacBooks in stock?

2. The rebate says purchase by May 30, so does a pre-order count in case they don't have or ship them by then?

3. Do you think Amazon will continue the $100 rebate after May 30?

4. Since I have never pre-ordered anything from Amazon, do they charge you when you order or when the order ships?

Thanks...

amazon always seem to frequently have rebates for Apple products, if not successively after one another.

Thanks. I might just wait till they have them in stock then and hope they are still doing the rebate. I've heard that the rebates take forever to receive anyway so I guess I won't be too worried about it.

Actually, Amazon is very good about taking care of its customers. I ordered a MBP back in January. By the time I received it, the rebate was "over" but they issued me a $150 credit. I would assume you'd get the same treatment.

I ordered from Amazon last week

1. They're quoting me a shipping date of July 27th! I'm hoping that that's just an estimate and that I get it before then as soon as they get some in stock.

2. The rebate also says that it has to be returned and postmarked by the end of June. Given that I might not be getting my Macbook till the end of July, there was no way I could fulfil their requirements. So I contacted Amazon support, and they said no probs - they made some note in my account and promised I'd get the rebate.

3. Dunno.

4. They charge when it ships.

In my case I saved $150 ( no tax). With the savings, I bought a 20 in Dell 2007FPW Ultrasharp™ Flat Panel for $358. Beautiful!

I Ordered one yesterday so we will see when they ship it out. I have heard of some people having theirs shipped in less than a week.

MacConnection.com has them instock, free shipping and no tax. Also they will ship same day!

Just brought one, you should buy one from them and cancell your amazon order. White one might be in next week the lady said.

But you don't get the $100 rebate. Besides, if MacConnection are getting them next week, might not Amazon be getting them as well? I'd imagine Amazon would be higher up Apple's priority list than MacConnection (if there is such a thing, of course).

MacConnection is a sponor of MacRumors also so should be a good company. Look above under Shop:

MacConnection has them in stock now and has a $100 Rebate also. Shipping seems faster then Amazon. I order many things on Amazon but there pre-orders arent the best, kinda slow. Amazon is great for in stock items.

They also have the Macbook Combo in stock.

Good Luck..

I'll check it out. Thanks

Soldout now... Good luck let me know if Amazon gets them in. I think I will probably get my rebate before Amazon ships it to you.

Also check to see if they are in stock. Since Amazon sometimes will have items in stock, but does not ship the ones on order! Since they gave you a date, usally they dont push it up. (atleast on books)

Amazon is the worst on preorders.

I gave up on Amazon. It seemed that Amazon Prime customers were getting priority over others and I was getting fed up waiting. And then Apple's Back To School offer came along...my MacBook left China on wednesday morning and is out for delivery today. Woo hoo!
