I got a black iPhone 3GS last week, and have successfully Jailbroken it.

However, I decided I would rather the white version, which is arriving tomorrow in exchange for the black one I am currently in possession of.

The iPhone came pre-installed with 3.1.2 which I Jailbroke with blackra1n.

I'm wondering if anyone has received an iPhone from O2 within the past few days/the last week, and NOT been able to Jailbreak it, due to Apple upgrading the iBoot to further lock the system down against Jailbreaking?

My worry is I'll get the perfect iPhone and it won't be possible to theme it :(

From what I have read, Apple has only just started rolling out the new iBoot, and my guess is the US will have them before the UK, and Apple stores before other retailers, and then warehouses last (phone and internet orders - since their stock probably depletes slower.)

So I'm hoping mine sitting in the warehouse in Leeds is NOT the new one basically!

I haven't had one recently but my assumption would be that it WONT have the new bootrom on it.
It's probably O2 stock so it would have been manufacturered prior to the update.

I can't be sure but I'd say the majority of updated iPhones will be in the US? But please correct me if I'm wrong.
Obviously from now on any new stock from Apple will probably be updated.

I hope it isn't when you receive it though!

My 1st one I had was from O2 direct, however this one broke and got a replacement directly through Apple, it didnt have 3.1.2 on it so I updated it myself through Itunes, I'm too scared to jailbreak again with BlackRa1n incase it breaks again.

Well I just received my 3GS yesterday from o2 and it came with 3.1 which I was extremely happy about after hearing about that new bootloader that came out - and just after I ordered it too. >.<

Over the moon!

It came today with 3.1 again.

Looks like our suspicions were right. I'm guessing its US based stores who will have the carrier lock first, and probably only the most popular stores (for example, the NYC store), whose stock will run out quickly.

Ours in the UK come from a big warehouse so have probably been sat stagnant for a few weeks.

Which is magnificent news!

I do worry that if I break this one, there won't ever be another JB solution. Apple is being very over-the-top with their approach to jailbreaking. They've practically stopped the unlock, so the networks are happy.

Blackra1n won't break your phone.

I've used it a few times now, its very easy and effective!
