My brother was cleaning out his old Mac parts bin and found this. Anyone recall what it is. It looks vaguely familiar but I can't place it.

The number on the packaging reads 600-1997-B.

Looks like something to take out a stuck floppy disk or CD but I would also guess it is for neither of those purposes.

From what I can find. It’s something to do with calibrating Apple Studio Displays.


I have no idea how it would work. Maybe to see if you have straight lines. Maybe the hole lets you focus on one character. To set sharpness.

Looks like you're right. That page has a broken link to MacNN, but the thread still exists with a new URL.
