My 201w iMac has a 1Tb fusion drive, it's used less and less now have iPad's, phones etc, but is still used my me for photos, I have it set to full resolution on the iMac drive, the library is about 650Gb now.

I'm wondering if buying an external SSD and putting the photo library on would help at all? Not sure of enclosure or interface though, and if my IMac ports would be the limiting factor?

Specs off Mactracker say the below...
USB: 4 - up to 5 Gbps
Thunderbolt: 2 - Thunderbolt 1 (up to 10 Gbps)

Anyone help? Anyone do this? Or do I just need a new Mac!?!

Thanks
