I’m just wondering how first gen 12.9” iPad pros are running with iOS 12. Anyone still using one?

Yes..... Had mine since when they first came available. Use it practically everyday for at least 4 hours if not longer and it’s never let me down and still looks like new.
All hardware including the screen, buttons, camera etc work perfectly.
I will be getting the series 3 iPad Pro soon but there’s no way am I getting rid of my Series 1.

Mine runs very well, I’m only upgrading to the new one because it feels kinda dated relative to my XS Max (I keep sitting there like an idiot waiting for iCloud Keychain to read my face every time I log in to a website), and I find many of the new features appealing, such as the smaller and lighter chassis, a much better way of incorporating the Pencil, USB-C, etc. I don’t think there’s any reason why I needed to upgrade though, there isn’t any obvious slowness.

Yeah, working like a breeze. Considered upgrading ‘cause that new one looks nice, but honestly, for what I use it for, I think I’m going to hold out until it’s unusable/unsupported at this stage.

Still rockin’ With mine. Looks perfect and runs great with iOS12.
Plan on keeping as long as I can. Going to buy another series 1 pencil and replacement tips.
Bought a refurb from Apple a little over a year ago. Mint condition, 256g and new battery.
Running all the apps I like or need, especially photo retouching. Loving Infinity Photo and Designer on it.

Mine is working like new as well. Im upgrading to the new 11” for Face ID and the usb-c port for use with an external display. Also the new design is more appealing to me.

Yep, still using mine every day. I don't know what I would do without it.
It does drain battery quickly and visibly compared to the smaller iPads but I have the quick charger so it evens out.

Got it from a day one. Works like the day a I got it. No issues with the iOS updates and is my daily driver. It’s great. I ordered the new ones and will
Be giving this to my daughter.

I am. Battery is not what it used to be, but it's still more than fast enough to keep up with everything. It was a great investment.
Contemplating replacing it with a new 11" Pro, but we'll see.

My first generation runs like a dream. Apple replaced the battery this year as well as the Smart Keyboard. I'm just upgrading to the new 12.9 because I'm spoiled.

Also on gen 1 since day 1. Ive been back and forth on ordering new one simple because it looks so fresh and the new pencil design is great. I also am counting on major iPad updates in IOS13 as was the rumor. However i just cant justify it right now. I have absolutely 0 slowdowns or crashes on gen 1.

To be honest I am of the belief that Gen 1 and forward, these ipads pack more power than iOS is really able to take advantage of yet. So until something comes that really punishes this hardware (looking forward to rumored big year in 2019!) i will wait. That may be Photoshop next year, may be iOS13, may be nothing.

Same here. Almost 3 years with my 12.9/256 in daily use and i’m as happy as the day I bought it. No lag, no slowdown, battery still hanging in there.

If it broke today, and I had the option of either buying the new model for $1149 or repairing this old one for $500 that then I’d seriously consider the repair. I’d never do that with any previous 3-year-old iOS device. I’d be ready for the new model, no questions.

It’s just that good.

Yes, first gen 12.9” user here but I just pre-ordered the 12.9” new Pro. With that said, no issues with battery or slowdown on this ipad. Still runs great.

I’m seeing some amazing prices on a first generation 12.9. Hearing performance isn’t an issue is great. I’m highly considering buying one for basic sketching and note taking. Thank you all!

I have a first gen 12.9, use it 4-8 hours a day at work. My only issue is that I went through 3 smart keyboards, since they stopped working after about a year. I am hoping that the new folio is better...But, the Pro is great, but I can almost literally watch the battery indicator % drop when using, just for split screen with OneNote and email, which is the preferred configuration. Assuming that I have charged this at least 1 per day, that means over 1000 charges adn I am OK with that. I will be getting the new 12.9 next wednesday, and will post any follow ups!

Still using mine but only at home on the couch, and I'm looking to sell it and my 9.7" OG iPP so I can upgrade to just one 11" iPP.

I considered upgrading to the 11" and keeping the OG 12.9" but the lack of Pencil compatibility made me decide to just pare down to one iPad Pro and sell my 2 older ones w/the original Pencil. They're in excellent condition, always in a case and glass screen protector.
