Anyone stream media to their iPad from a network attached storage (NAS) device? I just stopped by Best Buy and they had 2 brands of NAS; Seagate, which uses iTunes and Netgear that streams only to Windows 7 computers.

I'd like to stream mostly movies to my iPad and I don't have a desktop computer.

Thread right here.

I use air video but I dislike having to have another machine on in my house. Pop over to the threads that discuss your topic already and see what others have to say. Then again, the iPad is a huge mistake so why bother? ;)

According to the windows fans and some people on here it is, but after reading the legitimate posts in that other thread I created, I found out they are in the minority or they don't know what they're talking about. Plus, that post from MacRumorsUser, which I'm extremely thankful for, pretty much summed everything up for me and put me back on the right track. :D

Thanks so much for the link for the streaming media discussion. :)

I have a Seagate BlackArmor 220, 4GB version. However, I don't use the internal server to stream media because it pretty much sucks. I use my iMac as the server. I am able to stream SD or HD video to my PS3, Xbox 360, and now my iPad using Air Video (which works even over 3G). But you have to install a server on your computer, so this might not be what you are looking for.

I'm not sure if there are any iPhone/iPad apps that will allow you to stream directly from the NAS without using an intermediary computer?
