Anyone think Amazon will carry the iPad?

I'm curious before I pre-order the iPad... anyone think Amazon would carry it in the future? It is direct competition to their Kindle... but Amazon has no tax! What do you guys think?
 
I seriously doubt it. Doesn't vibe right with Kindle, as a "direct competitor" but the sky's the limit... :p

Kinda like waiting for Verizon to start selling the iPhone.
 
I could have sworn I'd seen a 'shipping date not available' type placeholder page for the iPad on Amazon not long after the Jan 27 announcement, but I can't find it now.
 
Of course they will carry the iPad. Amazon selling Kindle and Amazon selling iPad are too different businesses. That's how Steve Bezos sees it. Amazon is stupid not to carry the iPad.

Don't think it's a matter of "if" but "when". Since it looks like the iPads may, initially, be in short supply I imagine that other outlets will have to wait before Apple releases them to other retail outlets for sale.
 
I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered hearing that Apple was only going to sell the iPads through their own retail stores or their online store.

While I'm sure that eventually they'll be sold elsewhere, I'd bet at first they'll only be available from Apple.

Oh, that's great - love the accident photos too!

I recall reading somewhere that amazon was planning to get out of the hardware business now that apple is doing the ipad. I don't remember where it was, so it may have been someone's speculation. Since there already is a kindle app, why would amazon want to turn away all those iPad users and potential ebook buyers?

Yes, Amazon will.
They even have a place holder for each different iPad and also have a sign up page for notification when it's available. The question is, no one knows when that will be.

You heard wrong. Apple have stated that iPad will be available at any resellers including Best Buy, ATT and Amazon. Apple wants iPad to be a mass market device, they'll push it out everywhere. The only issue right now is that they don't have enough to allocate supply to their resellers and retail partners, so at first it's only available at Apple for the resource allocation.

That is so funny! I cannot believe how many sneer positive reviews there are too. This has got to be the biggest prank I've ever seen on Amazon? 283 positive reviews? This is some funny sh*t! :D

16GB WiFi Not Available

I signed up for notification on the 16GB Wifi model and noticed today that it just says that's it's not available. The other models say "
Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.". No need to read too much into it, just thought it was odd.

At Note at the bottom for all models reads:
Amazon wants to keep you informed about this exciting product. We do not know when we will be able to accept and fulfill orders. Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.

^ it only says that because you signed up to be notified for that particular model. I did the same thing.

I really want to get this from amazon because of the no taxes, and I have amazon rewards and amazon prime. Hopefully they will be taking preorders soon so I can get mine on the 3rd. Keeping my fingers crossed.
