Got my MBP and its perfect but there's one little problem that gets annoying with time especially when compared to my PowerBook. The latch. It holds fine and is symettrical BUT then it takes a little extra effort to pop it open.

With my PB i just flick the thing open with one hit and no sweat but with the MBP i have to make that extra effort....sometimes even requiring me to use my nail just so i can reach further back.

One of the reason i got a stock is so i could easily swap out if there were issues and i'm now considering making a genius appointment tomorrow (ugh!) to go in and have it checked out.

I know geniuses...especially here in the UK require you to have a broken arm and leg before they believe anything is wrong with your machine. Last thing i want is to lug two laptops only to have the "everything is within spec sir" line slapped on me

So what do you guys think, do i have a case?

Man... that sucks. Mine is still in Shanghai.. and I absolutely dread finding something wrong with this machine....
Do you think it could get better with time? I mean, do you think it could get a little ware to it and it would be OK?

I feel for you man... that just sucks. When we spend so much on these machines, we expect them to be perfect.

Since it is a spring loaded latch, this very well loosen with time. It is a fresh spring, give it some time and the spring will loosen making it easier to open.

Oh and by the way everything is within spec, sir. So, yes you have a perfectly functional case, but no, no case.;)

My MBP CD does the same thing, I always need to push it in with my nail. I always thought this was normal, I mean I wouldn't call it an issue, but its true that the old powerbooks were easier and that was what I was expecting initially.

Oh well, at least it wont pop open by accident.
