I want to trade in my iPhone 7 and get a xR. I answered the questions online truthful and it says I can get $250 for it.

How likely is it that Apple will actually give me that for my phone that’s bent?

Questions/Answers
1. Is your phone in good condition? - No

2. Does it turn on/buttons work? - Yes

3. How’s the screen? - It’s in good shape.

It depends on if you trade it in at the store or send it in. Either way, they’ll tell you in person if they won’t accept it or it will be returned with an explanation why it doesn’t qualify..

I'd try to trade it in at a store regardless of condition. You'll get an instant assessment from Apple, instead of waiting for days for a verdict after sending it off to a third-party company.

The anonymous personnel at those companies have one duty--to scrutinize and process all the used devices they receive, and that's what they'll concentrate on.

The store personnel are there to peddle new Apple products, and as long as the trade-in isn't horrible condition, and they can glean the model and serial numbers from the Settings app, they're more likely to be less critical and help facilitate the sale of a shiny new iPhone, which is their primary task.

Though not noticeably bent, my 6+ was slightly warped; enough to rock slightly on the opposite diagonal corners when placed on a flat surface. The only thing the Apple shirt checked was to record the numbers and comment how he liked the case.

If possible bend it back. Worked for me. When the 6 came I had the crescent moon issue on the front camera. Showed the genius the phone and he took it, placed it on the table with the camera off the edge and then started tapping it. He said it’s bent so he can’t help me. I got pissed of course as the bend was maybe 1-2mm.

I went home and thought maybe I can bend it back. So I did, drove back to the Apple store the next day and spoke with someone else and 20 min later I had a new phone.

If you’re trading it in to send in via mail, there is a possibility they _could_ contact you regarding the phone condition, being that the structure is bent, and then obviously will either degrade the value of the phone or they reject it altogether. They will contact you by email, which I believe this happened is somebody else in your situation. If you have the option, I would trade your phone ‘In person.’

For sure, my plan is to go in person to the Apple Store.
