Just curious, anyone tried to play cyberpunk on the 16c Vega II? Does it run well? :)

Yes! It runs moderately well at 1440p with all settings maxed to Ultra (plus one setting on Psycho, above Ultra, which for some reason is a thing) but still has screen tearing and occasional frame drops. The lack of ray tracing support from AMD is unfortunately glaring if you’ve been watching trailers and gameplay demos, and even attempting 4K Ultra causes the game to slow down to the degree of feeling sluggish and unplayable. I’m going to triple-check my AMD drivers are updated and try tweaking some GPU settings to see if I can get 4K Ultra to run smoothly, but as is it’s kind of embarrassing how poorly the game runs and looks on premium hardware.

Specs:
8-Core Intel Xeon W
AMD Radeon Pro Vega II
48 GB RAM
1 TB SSD

Tried it with the 5700X and it also runs OK on 1440P/60FPS with nearly ultra settings. Hadn't any propblems so far, even with the older driver (well apart from a lot of glitches, but those seem more like game bugs). Hope the bootcamp drivers are updated soon. Running at 4k? No way, unless you enjoy a slide show. So I try to resist until my 3090 arrives, and I am curious if and how the NVIDIA GPU will run with cyberpunk.

The CPU also is - at least at 1440 - apparently not pushed to its limits, load seems to be distributed over all 16 cores, with one core reaching about 90%.

So, if you are willing to skip raytracing and are OK with 1080p or 1440p @ 60FPS, it is absolutely playable.

I get 60fps with all settings at high in 1440p. Runs smooth with areas where it dips but 100% completely playable.

I assume you are all playing this in Bootcamp under Steam app? Or is there another way?

Under Steam, I was reading the reviews and they were complaining that the software is buggy. So I'm going to wait until they refine before I purchase this game, if at all.

Besides Steam, you can also order directly from GoG. Yeah, the game is buggy as hell, feels more like a beta. Guess they need to rush it out before the xMas buying season, and underestimated the overall effort. Also, character and face animations aren't top notch - while the city itself is, also it looks really nice even without RT. Not sure about the story, still early in the game (and I might postpone playing for some more hotfixes to arrive). So it has ups and downs, but surely not a game of the decade - as it stands right now. It will them take a while to clean up this mess, and this will hurt CDPs good track record for sure.

There's no budget in the world that would enable them to do enough 'top notch' character models/animations to fill their entire game with. Unlike the Last of Us and similar this is a huge playspace and high end content of this type takes ages to create. Plus they seem to have tons of variety in there. Ok-looking procedural/mainly generated content is probably all you can ever hope for with these games.

I am well aware of this. I know the difference between procedural animations and motion capturing, and I also know it is not possible to use 100% MC - if at all - in such big games. But even then, the animations are still sub par, also with a LOT of glitches, just take a look for yourself. Also the AI is not that good in general (all imho of course) ... for a better example, I found the people and their general reactions in Red Dead Redemption much more believable.

... well and I forgot about the driving & car physics, and other things. Sorry, but this game is far from being ready.

... and I think this is really sad because this has so much potential. What a bummer.

Oh sure, the game seems quite unfinished in many ways at the moment. There are some hilarious glitches in there for sure. Probably best played a few months from now in a patched-up version.

As for looks I suppose it all depends on the studio's expertise. Having never played a CDPR game I can only say that what I've seen from their previous titles to me never indicated that they are experts when it comes to characters/animation.
Granted I've never checked out RDR 2 but e.g. Ghost of Tsushima has similar issues with generic looking NPCs and stiff facial animation. I can forgive that as long as the game is polished enough. ;)

Yeah, they never had the best animations in town, thats true. But thats only one thing, and I guess so many people are dissapointed because CD Project Red had an excellent track record so far regarding overall quality of their products. I thought the delays were there because they really wanted to polish the game, but as it seems they were much more behind than I thought.
