Anyone tried HP e-print yet?

One of the few things that keep me from using my iPad at work versus carrying my MBP in is the inability to print. Well, now the HP e-print printers that have email addresses and don't need a computer to print.

Anyone tried one with an iPad yet? If so, how is it?

aS FAR AS I KNOW, IT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING about iphone..just smartphone (windoze) and Blackberry...the eprint app is not the same in the iphone. I think it would be great.

Edit: doing a search on the ePrint site brings up nothing for ePrint and Iphone. They have one at Office max in my area. I'll check it out today

I'm eager to know what happens! It doesn't seem to need an app, either. Just the ability to send email.

Funny you should ask, I just picked up the photosmart e-all-in-one d110a printer yesterday.

I was able to forward attached documents in my e-mail to the printers e-mail. It printed without any issues unless the attachment was not supported. I was able to send files from both my iPad and my iPhone 4.

I also used the HP iPrint app to print photos from both the iPad and iPhone 4. The app is only made for the iphone at this point so the looks are pretty poor. I included images from both devices.

The only thing I cant figure out is how to print PDF's from the iPad. Other than this the ePrint feature is great and works flawlessly!

Good reader works to e-mail PDF's to the printer but I can't get any PDF's in iBooks to print.

I have installed 4 of the new HP printers with eprint. Yes you can print from an iPad, iPhone or an HTC EVO phone.

I have used good reader and you can just send the item to the HP email address assigned to your printer. Works perfectly. No apps, no configuration settings. Just go to HP eprint sign register and put in your printer code that the printer prints out.

Also used Quick Office. If the web page or app does not support email, I just a screen capture and then go to my photos on iPad and email from there.

Wow thank you so much for the suggestion. I have an Office jet J6480 which is a wifi printer and this app lets me print wirelessly! I just wish I could now print documents like this somehow. Thanks a lot!

Now, are u saying you can print directly (thru email) remotely to this sPrinter? print while not on the same network? and it automatically prints the supported attachments.?
cause if it does then I'm gettin one

Yes, that is exactly right. The printer has a unique e-mail address. If i send an e-mail with attachments, the e-mail and the attachments are printed. I can print from anywhere and any device.

That sounds very cool. Have you tried to print any iWork documents? I would mostly be printing Pages documents or Word documents through Docs-to-Go.

I only have Pages on my iPad so i don't know about the other programs. The printer only recognizes Microsoft Office attachments. When i choose to e-mail from Pages I'm given the option to select the attachment type (see image). As long as you e-mail the following attachments you should be able to print:
◦ Microsoft Word (doc, docx)
◦ Microsoft PowerPoint (ppt, pptx)
◦ PDF
◦ HTML
◦ Certain image files (bmp, jpg, png, gif, and tiff)
◦ Text-based files

I bought the photosmart e-all-in-one for $99. It connected to my wireless network without any issues. I saw an additional 25 off code if you buy it direct from hp. The high end models are not out yet so you can only buy the cheap one

It seems a great buy for $75. I ALMOST pulled the trigger, but based on TWO reviews on the HP website, found out it is ONLY compatible with 802.11n. It is NOT compatible with my G router!

That is a good point. I'm lucky that my router is "n" capable. I just assumed because the printer was wireless that it had the standard capabilities.

It looks like the plus e-all-in-one has the standard b/g/n capabilities and should be out in September.

so the limitation is with the printer itself being n only, not the software - good, i was about to say how that isnt possible

very interesting software - hopefully it flexes a bit with age! being able to browse the contents of all your documents/images/pdfs on the one application, selecting which ones to print would be cool!
