Anyone tried Low Power mode?

Im wondering if anyone has, or plans to try out Low Power mode from a 100% charge?

I'm curious how much the battery life goes from 100% to dead with Low Power mode on the entire time.

I like the fact I can turn this on if I know I'm going to be away from a power source for an extended period.

Post results if you happen to try this out.

I'm going to try it later this week. I read an article where a beta tester said he got 3 days use out of his iPhone with Low Power mode enables from 100%

Depends on what you are doing. Basically, if you are only using your phone sporadically throughout the day, like for quick replies to messages, occasional browsing, that sort of thing, you will likely benefit a lot from this. However, if you are using your phone actively, i.e. with the screen on, the mode will not do all that much. LPM will stop background app refresh, postpone background downloads, increase the fetch interval of mail, contacts and calendars and throttle the processor – all things that you can benefit from if you are using your phone sporadically.

I've said it before and ill say it here; when you upgrade, iOS indexes the bejeebus out of your device which makes it run a little hot for a while. Let that process chill out (you'll know when your phone isn't physically warm when locked for a while) then you will see the better power savings with Low Power mode on.

My iPhone is running just fine. As the OP, I'm just curious if anyone was planning on trying LPM from a 100% charge to see what happens. What kind of difference you get in real world usage.

I tried it on my iPhone 5 but unfortunately there's a design feature that makes it effectively unusable for me. When you set low power mode it sets the auto-lock timer to 30 seconds and there is no way to override that apart from disengaging low power mode again.

I read a lot of ebooks which is the main reason why I would really like more battery life but having the screen dim after about 25 seconds and then turn off 5 seconds later unless I keep tapping it to stop it turning off got so annoying that I reluctantly came to the conclusion that permanent low power mode is a non-starter for me as it is currently implemented. Maybe Apple will change this in the future and allow a different auto-lock time to be set.

Such a shame because even on my 5 I was completely happy with the performance when it was in low power mode.

I am today. On iPhone 6. Came in to work at 9 at 100%, turned on LPM. Hopefully will report at the end of my workday what my results are.

i ran it on my 5S. Charged to 100%
usage time was ~6 hours (1 hour GPS for running, some camera stuff, internet, youtube, and about an hour or so worth of music playing)
Standby time was 85 hours. I had LTE/data turned off as i was on Wifi. Cell signal was usually around 4 bars.

17% battery still remaining. Note: i dont have facebook/messenger installed. With either of those in the app switcher, battery drops about ~5% an hour. If they are force closed, messenger is fine.

I charged my phone to 100% this morning.. off charger at 6:30 am 1 hour of music playing and some light texting. Currently sitting at 99% battery. Time is 12:11 pm. Pretty good i'd say

It doesn't, but you get an option to turn it on when the typical 20% and 10% warnings come up.

When the battery hits 20% you will be prompted to turn it on. If you haven't, the same thing happens again when the battery hits 10%.

Not sure about this, but I think it does not turn on automatically.. What happens is when you reach the 20% point, the pop up that appears of low battery has the option to turn the low power mode on.

LPM is a life saver. Yesterday, I hadn't charged my 6+ since the day before and was sitting on 1% battery only, after about 34 hours standby and 12 hrs usage, which is great. However it was only 3pm and I did not have a charger with me. Decided to experiment with LPM at 1% battery. Outlook mail kept pushing mail, as well as a few other message apps. I was able to get home by 7pm and plug it in to charge still at 1%... Quite pleasing.

I tested this on the beta 9 versions and it worked very well, I'm excited again to try this feature but I'm only at 80% lol will need to wait later tonight. The battery seems to be better with iOS 9 because I still have 80% and usually I'm down a lot more at this time of day.

90% if I remember correctly. C DM says 80%. I'm going from memory so go with 80%.

Loving the sound of LPM.

My phone ran hot after the upgrade which had me thinking great.. It's like my Samsung S2 experience all over again. But this was simply because I'm was browsing my phone from 8pm with screen on whole time until around 9pm which until 9:30 it was on/off occasionally. Then at 9:30 I jumped straight into the upgrade which again keeps screen on most of the time during the update. It finished at 10pm and I played around till 10:30 so essentially on for in excess of two hours and upgraded too so shouldn't be shocked!

Anyhoo! I came here with a suggestion.. Perhaps Apple could design a widget/switch to toggle LPM or even make it a control centre button rather than a useless timer or calculator. Or give us the option to choose the buttons in control centre
