A new text editor.

It's looking interesting to me, wanted to get some feedback from MR users, if there are any yet. It was released on the 28th.

It offers, file sharing, cut/copy/paste, find & replace, and several other features. Looks good to me on paper (screen).

its awesome! and they actually reply to user reviews and are working on making the app better!

also, the mac server application thingy they have makes it so easy to move files to my itouch for editing..

I really like this app, it basically gives me all of the features that I want and need for my iPhone, and more. It beats out MagicPad by far. And on top of that, I love the copy paste, the support for a ton of different file formats, the ability to put files on the device, along with take them off, wirelessly, and lastly, I especially like the Web Preview.

The developers seem to be replying to the reviews that people make on the iTunes page, and are actually listening to what they want. This should help to make the application even better then it is now, which is going to be even more insane.

I really commend the developers in making such a great app and offering great support, and I really recommend you try out this app, you wont be sorry!

I'm definitely thinking of getting it simply because it looks like it works well and is a fair price -- though I'm wondering how much writing I'm actually going to be doing on the phone! ;)

FileMagnet just holds the files, where as in TextGuru, you can actually edit them. It makes it so helpful if you need to do something on the go.

One thing that happened the other day was one of my friends who is learning Obj C asked me via the AIM app to help him fix his code. He put it on pastie, gave me the link, and I used TextGuru to download it direct from pastie. I found the error quite quickly, and was able to upload it direct to paste direct from my iPhone. I gave him the link, and he was set to go. I thought this was the best thing that ever happened to me.

So yes, TextGuru beats File Magnet by being able to actually edit things, and I would recommend TextGuru over FileMagnet everyday.

A new text editor.

It's looking interesting to me, wanted to get some feedback from MR users, if there are any yet.

Looked good to me also. I have MagicPad but it's limited. I also have 3 file transfer Apps...

My problem is that TextGuru will not fully load. I've reinstalled twice and it just hangs on the main screen, then crashes. No reviewers for the App on iTunes report this.
My next attempt will be to fully delete, re-download and see if that works.

Also, the link in iTunes to their website and support take me nowhere...???

@scapula0002 -
I love FileMagnet. I believe there is no iWork support (but rumored to come) so I also use another transfer utility that can read those files.

FileMagnet's method of selecting files is superior to the others IMO. Just drag & drop.

With the others, I have to select a folder that contains the files I want to transfer. This doesn't work for me as I have files all over the place, organized by client and do not want to move them into a "sync" or "transfer" folder.

I would love the ability to edit. Hopefully, TextGuru will eventually work for me. I'll report back with my FileMagnet vs. TextGuru opinion once I can compare.

Developer Response

Hi, I'm one of the developers working on TextGuru. As far as the Tiger issue is concerned, we were aware of the issue and have now rectified it. Tiger users wishing to use the FileServer can download it from:

http://textguruapp.com/FileServerTiger-1.1.zip

Leopard users can download it from the link on our website as usual:

http://textguruapp.com

We are going to update the website with the Tiger link soon, but thought you might like to have it a bit earlier than that :)

thanks for the update, u are just 2 hrs late, ..... :) .....I had a leopard DVD lying in the room for 3 months and I was just lazy to update my mcbk at home. Text guru got me excited and I fired it up, updated to leopard and I like the way text guru is doing.

Arg sorry you had to go through all that! But there's a silver lining in the cloud, because our Leopard fileserver is better than our Tiger fileserver as it dynamically updates whenever the fileshare is changed thanks to a Leopard-only technology called 'fsevents'. We attempt to simulate this experience in Tiger but its nowhere near as quick as it is on Leopard :D And I'm delighted that you like the app!

P.S. still shocked that you upgraded to Leopard just for this ;P

I actually love TextGuru, the file sharing and the pastie support are amazing!

It has basically become the only editor app I use, other than Evernote for pics and sounds.
