I'm itching to know how the new Adobefied Dreamweaver behaves! Anyone got hold of it yet? I hope they've taken the time to iron out some long standing kinks and querks. While DM is good it can be so darn frustrating at times.

yeh i have been using it.. so far i can only see the differences in interface more inline with photoshop cs3 but it definetly runs way faster on intel mac!

Cheers for that. I have a G5 at work and it runs DM ok but my Intel iMac at home runs it like dog. Must be a breath of fresh air to have it finally Intel native. Just have to kick my boss and make him order it! :p

Macbooks?

Will CS3 run well on a macbook? I know the graphics card is not one of the greatest, but if you have 2gb of total ram, will the CS3 Package run smooth?

Ryan 2gb of ram will be good enough. I recently added an extra gig to my Core2Duo iMac (taking it to 2gb) and it made a massive difference. And given its Intel native it should be much quicker.

Nicolasdec, there doesn't appear to have been a huge raft of changes to DM after Adobe got it. From what I read its had tweaks etc to tie it more into the CS workflow. But no real "wow" features added. I just want to know how well it behaves.

yess it deinfetly does.. i have C2D 2ghz Macbook pro with 2gb of ram and the cs3 apps are very snappy in line with fast PC's.. i think CS3 runs about 4x faster on intel than CS2 no jokes..

Macbook

Currently I am using DW8 on a Powerbook 1.5 G4 12inch. I connect to a larger display to work on files.

My Question is about the macbooks, not pro series. I enjoy carrying a smaller notebook. I was looking at getting a 13 inch black macbook. Will CS3 be ok, given the smaller video card? I would upgrade the ram to 2 GB.

Adobe apps use the CPU, not GPU for processing so you don't really have anything to worry about regarding the video card. It's not like Aperture.

I just got the new Dreamweaver CS3 with my Web Premium package. I just spent the last two days playing with it. It seems to be fast and they seem to have thought of (almost) everything.

But the question I kept asking myself as a first-time Dreamweaver user....

How does it make my job easier? I write my code with ViM on a server, then I just reload the page to see the changes. Am I missing some benefit here? I was really hoping that this program would enable me to upload a site I was working on, move things around and change them easily to see different layouts, etc. I was pretty disappointed that it's basically just Notepad on steroids with some file interfacing stuff to make it user friendly.

Someone sell me on it! If I'd purchased it separately, I'd be looking to sell it on eBay right now :(

main thing for me is the ability to draw div tags like you would a table it makes layout so much easyer just laying out the div tags like you would draw with a lot less effort than hand codeing them.
