I believe it is only available for Fast Insiders (which I'm a part of, pretty much for New Outlook)

You have to install directly from office.com and not off the App Store. Then select the Fast Insider build from within Microsoft Autoupdate.

I decided to wait until the full release comes out. All the apps run fine on my M1 Air, apart from OneDrive which is slow, but that is the same on any Mac! I haven't noticed any slowdown. They fire up quickly too, apart from first launch, and that was only about 5 seconds.

Sounds like you're running the release version on Rosetta - how does performance compare to your previous Mac (would be helpful to know what you were using before)?

I haven't done any measuring, but it feels faster. Previous was base 2019 MacBook Pro 13.

Running the M1 Beta but havent played around with it long enough to give feedback since i am still on my 16" Pro since its work hours but will check more tonight...

The thing that sucks is that they force you to use the new outlook which i cant stand!

I just installed MS Office 2019 v16.43 (20110804) and it runs perfect on my M1 MBA. No Rosetta required (or demonstrated) like other software install.

No beta required.

Awesome, now I can do a ton of shitwork tomorrow :/

Do you have 8 or 16GB? And how’s performance compared to what you used before?

it's in the sig. 8GiB

super fast compared to the other 6-8 Macs I use daily.

as in lightning fast. PhD theses super fast.

(having said that I'm typing this on a 2008 iMac.)

compared to the iMacs from 2013 to 2019 in my lab ... seems at least 2x the speed of the fastest ... 100+ page documents are instantly opened.

pure bliss really.

i'm scrolling through faculty meeting minutes like no one's business

Only issue i'm having is when i search for an email it does find emails that i am looking for but when i actually click on one of the results to open it up, i have a white/blank screen for that email. this has been having for about 1.5 weeks through 2-3 updates of the outlook beta.

Anyone else having this problem with search?

.43 is the release version and it’s running ( very well) on Rosetta. .44 is the M1 native version.

I agree. That was the first day I have the machine.

I now know I can see it's Intel/Apple in the activity monitor.

I'm tempted to try the beta but will wait until it comes through the normal channel.

Teams is an electron app. Electron has a naive Apple silicon version now so I expect Microsoft to move us over to native soon.
I've "tried" to repack Teams with latest Electron with AS support, and I found that Teams is using some node_modules that explicitly complied for x86_64 as that is an optimization library.

Not too much of a surprise. They announced in their note to windows insiders about their embrace of arm, that they are porting Teams to arm for windows, Hopefully we will see an AS port around the same time.
