So the Dev Team has finally released an unlock for iPhones with a virgin 1.1.1 firmware. I am having a brand new one sent to me by the end of this week. Has anyone tried the new anySIM on a brand new, store-bought 1.1.1 phone? How did it go?

Don't you guys ever learn? Apple will disable this one, too, maybe even catastrophically like the 1.0.2 "unlock."

I'm not taking a position here on whether or not Apple SHOULD sell unlocked phones, or whether they SHOULD allow third party unlocks, or even whether they SHOULD take extra pains to make sure updates don't brick phones with third party unlocks. I'm just trying to note that anyone who unlocks at this point given the issues with the 1.1.1 update is just asking for a future headache.

Eddie O who is happy with ATT, so I have no interest in unlocking my iPhone.

Don't you guys ever learn? Blah blah...
You DO understand that most people who unlocked 1.0.2 didn't upgrade to 1.1.1 when it came out and are doing just fine, right? Just like that, when 1.1.2 comes out, I won't upgrade to it until it is hacked. You only risk bricking your phone if you are stupid enough to update to the latest software when Apple upgrades it.

You DO realize that there are a bunch of people who unlocked and did brick their phones, bitch about it on forums like these constantly and blame Apple.

This can lead to the rest of us getting pissed at reading this crap all the time.

Do YOU understand you have an option and its simple... JUST DONT READ IT! The thread title is about the SIM UNLOCKER and since you have already said your tired and pissed off at reading this crap WHY WOULD YOU EVEN OPEN A THREAD ABOUT IT?

I saw no one on here blame Apple for anything... Maybe you need to whine and bitch about how tired and pissed you are somewhere else.

Did i say i was not interested if this thing works? No, i am actually reading to see if it is a valid method to unlock. It then gets a bit narky, AND I GET SHOUTED AT IN CAPS.

And you posted again to whine about getting shouted at? LMFAO... You NEED a hobby! :)

FYI... I dont have a unlocked or jailbroken phone, just tired of people bitching about the hackers! They do what they do, you choose to do what you want, period! It doesnt have to be ONLY one way or another... it can be both.

And another hostile response, i need a hobby, you need therapy.

/end thread.

Hostile?? You obviously cannot read. You are right, END THREAD. I'm getting pissed off (remember that non-hostility and where it started) talking to a moron like you.

heh nothing like someone who says they are dropping the conversation...but still have to get that last dig in.

This thread = reason 5,208 to have a dedicated forum for hacks/unlocks.

Does anyone with the power to do anything about that care?

Apparently not.

This forum is not for iPhone hacking...head over to HOFO and their iphone forums, they have a sub forum dedicated to hacking the iPhone, and everyone over their is super friendly. I like this forum... but their's is better...IMHO.:D

I wasn't suggesting it was about hacking, but rather discussing hacks and unlocks.

Just about every thread you see on something to do with those subjects will inevitably devolve into a shouting match over the legality/morality/appropriateness of doing so.

It would be nice to have people who wish to use their iPhone in that way discuss it separately from those who do not.

I used IPSF to fix the damage the original anysim did to my phone.

I then updated and hacked the phone and it now works in 1.1.1 even although as I said it was a 1.0.2 original phone.

I don't know if the dev team have taken a different approach to unlocking 1.1.1 than 1.0.2 but as much as I want to support those guys I trust IPSF more...

Because at the end of the day their original unlock still worked when updated to 1.1.1 and that they will surely find a way to make sure it works on any future updates before anyone else because they are a company making money off the iphone and if they can't unlock they won't make any money!

You saw no one on these forums blaming Apple for anything? Where have you been? Mars?

The reason I posted was that we are about to experience deja vu all over again with a new hack, made simple to apply via GUI so that anyone, even a simplton like me (who was VP of Advanced Products Development at a major software company) can apply, and who won't set up a protection against an inadvertent firmware update during sync. Then those folks will generate about a google of message here and elsewhere blaming Apple for bricking their phones.

Again, I take no position here on the wisdom of Apple's action.

HOFO's are not nice! i got yelled at like a noob for asking perfectly fine questions. I stoped posting there afterwards.

How come every thread on hacking/unlocking turns into a nasty moral fight?

If you have a non hacked iphone and are sick of the hacking threads ignore them!!

There are plenty of people like me in other countries, that without the hacks, would not be able to use the iphone, and i want my iphone, working and unlocked thank you.

Now, let's play nice.

Over at the Hackint0sh forums its clearly stated that the 1.1 version of anysim is experimental and inst ready for general use. So, let's hold on for a bit.
