My SATA 3G SSD went bad. Basically it wouldn't boot, then I erased it using Secure Erase, so I could reinstall the OS, now my Mac Pro won't even get past the white screen with the SSD connected. Basically if I connect any other drive, my computer boots up fine.

That said, I'm going to warranty SSD, but in the meantime I'm looking at other upgrade options. One of these is the new OWC Mercury Accelsior PCI Express SSD. Prices aren't too bad and speeds look pretty good. I have a free PCIe slot to use this with.

Anyone try this?

I've been watching PCI/e SSD storage since dang near it's inception.
(Ok, maybe not quite?)

I have an X who's uncle worked on development and implementation for intel on these, and I got to check out his dev rig at his house over thanksgiving.... I think 4-5-6 years or so ago..... then a 40GB was something like $10k.

I can't wait to run a machine with these jokers.... large audio and video sessions? I see no better current solution.... awesome.

I love technology
