I have a black Macbook 2,1 (2.0 ghz core 2 duo, 2 GB RAM) and am curious if anyone out there has switched from this notebook to a Macbook Air 11" with 1.4 ghz and 4 GB of RAM ?

I'm eyeing that machine and sort of want to make it my primary computer. I'm a journalist, so I need a machine for writing articles, blog posts, e-mails. Nothing fancy. The occasional edit in Photoshop.

But would I be taking a step backward -- a huge step backward?

I went from the late 2008 unibody Macbook (not pro) to the 11.6" Air (4/1.6/128) as a primary machine and so far I'm thrilled.

I've had to put my photos on an external hard drive and am still moving files around to decide what really needs to be on the computer itself and what can be on a back up drive and/or in the cloud, but I wouldn't go back to a regular Macbook or Pro after this.

I just do web/email/twitter/writing/wordpress/iTunes for the most part. More than happy with the machine. I don't find the screen small at all, though I do understand when some say they find the font small. The keyboard feels entirely big enough for extended typing, and the weight/footprint is incredible. The speakers are actually better than the unibody's.

Sometimes it seems like my machine is more often in a carryon flight bag than anywhere else, so this really was a no brainer for me.
