Just thinking that I may convert my 2010 mini into a server and then get myself a new one, however I refuse to pay apples upgrade prices. I can get the same ram from newegg for 80 and I have an intel SSD I would rather use. Cheers!

I did a BTO Mac Mini Server. The HDD Upgrade was only 100$ for two 750GB's. I couldn't resist. I'll get my Mini next weekend and from there will upgrade the RAM to hopefully 16GB's, depending if Corsair or OWC release anything. I can't find any dual 8GB RAM Chips though, just dual 4GB's.

I did same here!

What are the chances it will accept more RAM then specked by Apple?

Hopefully very likely. I've been searching around for 2011 iMacs with non-Corsair or OWC RAM. Haven't had much luck, but if the 2011 iMac can accept 16GB's (8GBx2) from another manufacturer I'm betting the 2011 Mini will as well.

Forgive me for not knowing this, but is the iMac only spec'd up to 8GB? If people have been feeding it 16GB of RAM, how's it been recepted? Any results?

I would love to know if a mini would accept 16GB, especially before I go ahead and plunk down $$$ for a RAM upgrade!

I expect if no one else does, OWC will test 16GB (2x8GB) RAM in the new Minis. I'd keep an eye on their blog (http://blog.macsales.com/). They are a good source of information about things like this. I've never bought anything from them, but may at some point.
