Hi all,
blogger's a bit limited and so I'm actually thinking of trying to buy my old web url. If you have a weburl with godaddy, they give free hosting — WITH ADDS.

Anyone use them before?

Think you mean ads, unless they got one of them fancy adding machines ;)

Haven't used Go Daddy myself as I run my own server, but have good things from others on this forum. Their web site looked horrible and confusing, and haven't been back since, but that doesn't mean anything about their service.

OK, but it sure does look "nasty".

I buy domains and host some email at GD. Overall its been a good experience. Hosting though is another matter, free hosting to have all visitors to your site sit through their ads? I'd rather spend the 75-150 a year for actual hosting.

So it really wrecks their browsing experience? Hmm, I guess $100 bucks a year is fine for a hobby site. How much do people here spend gambling / drinking / shooting / doing or watching football?

Gosh, why am I so stingy on myself? $100 bucks a year on a hobby is nothing!

What really peeves me is that I let my old website url go... and now someone's taken it over, and made it PINK! :(

Nothing wrong with wanting to save money on a hobby, but you do definitely get what you pay for. There are other free hosting sites, i think yahoo still has one of those too. I know letting your domain lapse is a pain. A lot of companies will give a "lapse protection service" for a few extra $$$ when you register. Go Daddy offers that.
