I just figured that out that you can use finder (apple-k) and then put ftp:// before the website you want to ftp to. Amazing.

Is it better than Transmit? That's what I've been using.

Does finder upload now? I thought you could only use it to download.

not that I know of, or at least I've never been able to upload with it, it's ok for grabbing the occasional small file or two, but you really need a true FTP program in OS X for any regular FTP use.

I really don't expect the FTP service in Finder to change too much.
Why?
Because it's FTP. It's an antiquated technology. It's got (virtually) no security to speak of.
Why spend the effort when perfectly good FTP clients exist?

That's how I'm thinking they look at it. Plus it's the Finder. :)

Cyberduck

I used the FTP ability in Finder a couple times when I first purchased my Mac, but it is really limited. Just use Cyberduck - it's free, powerful and an awesome piece of software.
