New to this. Just got one (space grey). Liking it without a case but would like to hear your opinions. I assume it'd be risky not putting a case on it?

I've never put my previous iPads in cases, and will most definitely not put my new 2020 iPad Pro in a case either.

I usually put on cases for watch videos or similar instead of a stand for example, or when I have to carry with me, but when I use at home I never use with the case, I prefer how it looks without it.

And it’s the same with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, I don’t use it with case

I have always kept my devices in cases. With my new 11” pro, I use it with the Magic Keyboard when I’m at the table, but if I want to sit on the couch and read or play games, I take it off the MK and use it without a case. I did put a skin on the back though - I don’t like mine to get scuffs or scratches.

Mine is permanently in a folio case, folio keyboard or magic keyboard (although I haven't used the folio keyboard since I got the magic one)
Apart from the protection the folio gives me when I'm not using the keyboard, I find it easier to hold / carry with the grippy texture of the case and it eliminates the imbalance caused by the huge camera bump if I want to lay it flat

Never had an iPad in a case since it never really leaves my house. So not necessary.

Thanks for the all the inputs guys. I’ll probably just get a case and use as needed.

Something along the lines of Smart Folio is nice to have, IMO. It is not only good for protection as such, but also for positioning your iPad for different tasks, so you do not have to hold it in your hands all the time.

I have a minimal, clear flexible case that protects all the edges and I can still see the iPad through it. I've dropped my iPads over the years on several occasions in my house so it's necessary.

I wish Apple would make minimal colorful cases for the IPP that offer full edge protection. One drop in the folio or keyboard cases will cause damage.

Never used a case, and never had a problem. I've had iPads since the iPad 3, and I've never had a problem using it naked. I have a thing I slip it into in my backpack, and then pull it out of there when it comes out of my backpack.

I would potentially get a case for the back if the iPad would wobble too much on a flat surface, just to flatten out that silly camera bump. Other than that, my Pro is often in a keyboard case when I want to type longer passages and naked on a flat table (yes no prob with older models) when I want to write with the pencil.

I use the Magic Keyboard as a case when outside my home. Before that the Smart Keyboard Folio. But I use it without a case in tablet mode pretty frequently. Especially when reading.

It just feels so nice to hold without one!!

I use a zugu muse case, but not recently as it seems to have damaged the top button. Waiting to hear back from them about this. However, since then I have rediscovered the naked beauty of the iPad.
