I've been debating putting all my voicemail in one place - but am hesitant to make the switch. I'm curious if anyone here has set their iPhone to forward to the Google Voicemail and are happy with the switch?

Anyone using Google Voicemail in place of Visual Voicemail?

I think that's part of whats keeping me from making the switch - no simple way of getting to the voicemails. The Google Mobile App doesn't even link to it; so I have to start up the browser and that just seems to be annoying extra steps.
I use google voice with my iphonoe. I only use the voicemail feature. I have two cell phones. I like having both go to the same voicemail. also, it is nice to get the text and email that you have a message. when i am in a meeting, i can read a transcript of the voicemail, without putting the phone to my ear. the transcripts are about 60% accurate. So you have to guess a lot. Have you see the google voice web app? You can play your voicemails through it without using minutes if you want. I dont call into google voice anymore. I have going to stick with it. A native app would be nice, cause it could use push notification and have something similar to visual voicemail. But the web application is very close. Just create a shortcut on your homescreen. the text messages will be your push notification 
Both my dad and I switched away from Google Voicemail the other day. It simply cannot transcript worth a ****. At all.
I use it. I like getting my voicemails sent to me as txt messages and attachements on emails. It makes voicemail easier in general.

The new Google Web App is pretty good.
Yes, the transcripts aren't very good. But sometimes the crazy translation it does makes you laugh.
It still burns me that Apple killed the Google Voice App that I had purchased.

I'm using Google Voice happily on my iPhone. I haven't used AT&T's Visual Voicemail, so I can't really compare the two, though.
As others have mentioned, the transcription isn't great, but I can almost always get the gist of the message, often more.
Since I saved Google Voice as a home-screen shortcut, it's pretty easy to access messages.
I also have GV set to e-mail me about new voice messages, and email set to forward those notices to Nuage, a helpful app/service that provides a push notification.
If you make the switch, I recommend going into advanced settings for your mobile number and choosing: "When someone calls this phone directly and I don't pick up... Go straight to voicemail." Otherwise, callers hear ringing for way too long before GV takes a message.
