I ran across Vavaldi web browser. It looks interesting, but is anyone here using it on a Mac? I won't sacrifice "cool" features or speed for security.

TIA!

I assume you mean Vivaldi. :)

I don't use it as my primary browser (that honor goes to Firefox), but I do keep it around as a "backup" browser when I want to visit something with a different browser, eliminate potential cache issues, etc. It has a very responsive UI, and it uses the Blink rendering engine and so renders things more or less like Chrome and is thus compatible with nearly any modern website. There are some neat UI features (and some annoying ones: I usually middle-click tabs to close, but if you go just a bit too far down and hit the separator bar, you'll turn on large tabs with previews), so if any of them appeal to you, I'd say go for it. You may also like it if you were an old-time Opera user, to whom this browser was really made to appeal.

Doesn't hurt to try. You'll always have Safari or your browser of choice to fall back on or switch back to if you prefer. :)

Use it on a Mavericks machine and it does well.

I used it for a while and loved it, but since I need to be able to sync across multiple browsers on different platforms, I had to find something else because Vivaldi was so slow getting sync added. Oddly enough, I switched to Opera, and use it on Linux, Mac, and Windows and have no trouble syncing. When the Vivaoldi people ran Opera (Opera 12 and earlier) I loved Opera and it was my second choice. I love what they have done with Vivaldi, but there's just not enough "need" now for me to switch back.

If you're considering it, I hearlily recommend it (Vivaldi.) If this conflicts with what I have said here, keep in mind the ONLY reason I changed was the need for sync. I was a Vivaldi fan from the very first time I fired it up and still am.

I use it and I really like it. I have gotten comfortable with it now but have found a few things I don't like:

- 1Password doesn't seem to play nice. First the button for it on the toolbar would appear/disappear at random. Now when clicked, it doesn't do anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem.

- Can't figure out how to make it so the browser doesn't automatically jump to a new tab when one is created.

- Many multiple tabs seem to slow things down.

But like I said, I like it and it's my main browser.

I checked it out and keep it updated but don't use it as primary browser, for that I use Iron, which is Chrome with the spying code removed. You can get it here http://www.srware.net/en/

As a (very) old Opera user, I've used Vivaldi as my main browser since day 1.

I love Vivaldi (old Opera user) but so far, no other browser saves as much batt as Safari. That's why Vivaldi and FF are my second option browsers.

Vivaldi is my primary browser for both home and work use on OSX and Windows, with Firefox being used for my 'Work' browser that I use for all work uses (e.g. my various DevOps webapps, payroll etc).

Been using Vivaldi since it was still in beta and it's my go-to browser.

Only issue I've noticed is that there's a smattering of websites that it doesn't play well with it on OSX - the Apple support forums being the big one (where quite often it refuses to render the page) and on two separate occasions in the last few months it got so badly hung I was forced to reboot.

That said, i still love using - partly because I still love the way it adjusts it's color scheme to match the current page.
