I have a extra AMD system that has 6 hard drives. I have been playing around with open media vault on it as a backup storage server. I'm now looking at different OS,s because I not too happy with open media vault and Mac SMB. I was thinking of giving Windows server a try. It looks like I can use it for 180 days as a trial. I was wondering if anyone has any insight or tips.
Thanks

No... I prefer Ubuntu or any Linux server 24/7. It has better compatibility for Mac and Win both. It's free.

@dimme

Consider installing open source enterprise class NAS software from https://www.truenas.com.

Supports all file system protocols (including TM) and has built in support for any number of cloud storage providers.

I have 2 systems running TrueNAS CORE and 1 system running SCALE
