I have a 2018 iPad Pro 11 and really like and enjoy using the new Magic Keyboard. I usually sell old electronics but am on the fence when it come to my old Smart Keyboard Folio.

I never really liked the Smart Keyboard folio with the rubberized keys and used a Brydge Keyboard (now sold) most of the time and then used the Smart Keyboard Folio when I was on the go and needed to shove it into a back pack or something to that extent. I kind of think I can do that though with the new Magic Keyboard and was able to put a case on it as a well (i-Blason case on Amazon...not a perfect fit but good enough)

Any thoughts?

Smart Keyboard folio don't need to recharge and water resistant. This is the advantage that new magic keyboard don’t have. So I think I might keep both if I go for that magic keyboard.

I'm keeping the old one, but it's because I just have the old one for the 11 and just have the new one for the 12.9. Keeping the old one to keep the 11 nice and light and portable for sticking in my purse, so I don't feel the need to get the MK for it. The new one on the 12.9 is getting daily use for me at my desk (using the 12.9 in sidecar with my Mac mini). When I travel, I will take both iPads.

Yes. I have both the Magic keyboard as well as the smart folio. The smart folio i use every so often. The magic keyboard is use 95% of the time.

Keeping mine for travel. There are a lot of scenarios where I don’t want the weight or need to take it off the keyboard.

Yes, I’ll be keeping the ASKF. While it is an exceptional piece of kit, I see the new Magic Keyboard as more of a docking station. Like a desktop replacement for an external keyboard and trackpad/mouse, than a portable case for the iPad. It weighs as much as the iPad itself, necessarily due to its attractive design. The ASKF is perfect for touch first, on the go computing. IMHO as always :)

Given how old and grubby my smart keyboard folio is (plus one side is already splitting at the seams), I doubt it would be able to fetch much even if there were any takers anyways.

I put my Smart Keyboard Folio back into it’s box the day my AMK arrived, and have not thought about it since. I honestly can not understand the objection with the weigh. My Pro is the 11 inch, so I can’t speak to the 12.9 inch. But I enjoy carrying around the the Pro with the MK, it feels so sturdy, like a serious piece of tech should, that’s meant to be used! And when I want just a tablet, I just lift them apart. My only obejection is that there is not a better place to secure the Apple Pencil when it’s not in use, but having it handy has gotten me to use it more and it’s now part of my workflow. I think of the set (the Pro, MK, and Pencil) like they are a modern day Swiss Pocket Knife because of how interchangeable and multifunctional they are.
