I only played with the iPad a few times at a local BestBuy store,
i'm waiting for the 3G to pull the trigger.

I'm just wondering if anyone that has the iPad now, wished it was a few inches bigger, maybe like 11" or 12" diagonal screen? For better web browsing?

Or do you think a bigger display would definitely make the iPad much less mobile?

Not really. And keep in mind, everything seems smaller at Best Buy when you're surrounded by huge HDTVs. Once you get it home, it's just the right size. Anything bigger would be awkward to hold.

Heavens no! I think the size and balance are quite right, any bigger and I can see it being uncomfortable to hold.

Thank you for your replies!

As Jeffy777 pointed out, it probably looked a bit small to me because of all the huge appliances surrounding the table where the iPad was presented.

Nope, the fact that's it's larger than a phone but smaller than most laptops ensures that it hits the "sweet spot" for just about anything!

I think it's just about right, however I think a screen 10.25"-10.75" with a 1280x960 resolution would be better without sacrificing portability much. Not a major complaint though, something like the 12" JooJoo looks way too big and bulky, the Dell 5" looks too small where you you just rather use a cel phone.

Actually, yes. I like big screens. My laptop is a 17". My TV is a 62".

I've only played with it at Best Buy (have the 3G on order) but my first thought was that it was smaller than I expected. I played with it for a good 30 minutes and still felt that way when I left.

iPad mini (?)

Apple is planning to sell an iPad with only 7" or so in 2011.
I want to call it iPad mini;-)

I'd take an iPad Maxi :). Seriously though, I wish it were a couple inches larger for my home usage (I just use it around the house to surf), but it works just fine. Anything bigger would hamper the portability of it which is one of its strengths.

Heck no, The iPad size is perfect the way it is, don't need anymore weight added to it. The screen size is great for watching movies, if I want something larger I will look at my TV.

How often don you hold the TV in the air? Or even a laptop which is always resting on something.

I think they did a fantastic job getting the "right" size and weight. Perfect.

I would've preferred it a little closer to 8.5x11, but I think it's fine the way it is.
