I'd really like to know how the 13" rMBP handles an external display in El Cap. Is there anyone with a 13" rMBP (preferably with an Iris chip) and a 1080p or higher display who can test UI performance in El Cap when the external display is connected? Would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the response. What year is your 13" from? Also, is it anywhere near as smooth as the 15" in this vid?

It would actually be really awesome if you could post a vid of your setup and it's performance. But I realise that might be a bit much to ask :)

Mine is a 2014 13.3”/2.6 i5/8GB/256GB
I haven't tried what the guy is doing in the above video, but I will try when I get a chance.

EDIT: just tried the same Mission Control gesture with 12 applications open. It's just as fluid as the video. The iMac is in native resolution (2560x1440). I'm using a display port cable since the iMac is too old for Thunderbolt.
The applications were: iMovie, Photos, Notes, Maps, Number, iTunes, Safari (2 windows with about 10 tabs each), Audio HiJack, App Store, Settings, Messages and Mail.

Hope this helps @phero

Awesome of you to test that! Really appreciated.

Man, this makes the choice between a 13" or 15" rMBP that much harder. Seems they really fixed the UI problems in El Cap. The 6100 in the 13" looks to be quite capable.
