Anyone with Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse?

I'm planning on purchasing a 20" iMac soon and noticed that the local Apple Retail store has some pre-configured bundles with the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse and upgraded VRAM.

How do you like the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse? Other than the obvious lack of wires, one-button mouse and need to replace batteries, are there any other differences?

I did a search but didn't find very many comments on the combination.
 
You're can't get a better looking combo as far as I'm concerned. My mom has both the BT keyboard and mouse with her imac g5. Looks great. I personally don't like the mouse. It has a weird feel to it. Responses aren't that great and I really hate the fact it doesn't have a scroll wheel. And of course the lack of a second button.

The keyboard on the other hand is excellent. I've been using it for just over 2 years now with my powerbook and its great. The keys have the perfect weight to them. Not so heavy that your fingers start to hurt when typing a long paper but also not light enough for accidental button pressing like on a powerbook keyboard. The battery life is pretty decent. I just put in my 4th set of regular AA alkaline batteries today actually. So about 2 sets a year with moderate use. If you remember to switch the keyboard off when not using it for extended periods they'll last longer.

The BT Keyboard is great. I really like the feel of the keys, and its minimalist design.

The Mouse, OTOH, is something I loathe. It is far too heavy, and is a chore to move over my desk's surface. Using a mousepad makes it even worse.
 
I use a blutooth apple keybord with my macmini and my iMac. I love the keybord, its small works great and is nice to use. I dont like the apple BT mouse, its slow, heavy and feel wrong with one button. I use a Logitech MX 1000 Laser Cordless Mouse, its great, its really good. Its not that good for gaming but it works well for normal use. I would also like to say that i use a mouse pad from Belkins that is also a usb hug which makes connecintg any usb device simple and fast.

The mighty mouse is also a very good mouse, looks, feels and works great. I am never a fan of apple mice but i like there keybords.

The BT keyboard is the best part. The mouse is dependent on your surface and if you need precision control. I found it good for day to day but it eats batteries.
 
Likewise. The keyboard is better than the mouse. Very nice key feel. I'm constantly scraping grubbies off the underside of the mouse. If you don't it doesn't slide smoothly on any surface I've tried.

BTW, you don't need to turn off the keyboard when it's not in use to save batteries. It (and the mouse) shut off automatically when the Mac is asleep or off.

Yeah, I know about the mouse and keyboard sleeping. It's just that the mouse needs batteries every 2-3 weeks and the keyboard needs them every 5-7 months.
 
I'm using both right now, and I LOVE both. The battery life is terrific, I think I've changed them once each in the past 9 months. The Keyboard is also very functional, (I think I say that because I like the wired ones so much) Its the exact duplicate of the wired keyboard minus the wire! I'm vacationing right now in mexico and brought both with me along with my powerbook. The only problem is that the keyboard gets "gunk" under the keys very easily, Thats why I would advise the iskin pretector seen here:

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like many of you like the keyboard but not so much the mouse. That's too bad since I was hoping the wireless mouse is where one would find the most benefit.

Is there going to be a BT version of the Mighty Mouse? I'm not sure if I could live without the two button feature as well as scrolling.

Also, on a side note, any of you purchase the 20" iMac bundle they have in some retail stores that include the BT set and a 256Mb VRAM upgrade?

My battery life hasn't been that bad on the mouse. But not as good as the keyboard.

Biggest problem is after replacing batteries mine doesn't re-pair. Have to pull out wired mouse to fix the problem. PITA. Not an issue for keyboard, since I can use the mouse to pair devices.
 
I have the keyboard but I use the G7 mouse from Logitech with the hot-swappable Li-Io packs. I like the looks of the keyboard but I can honestly say that after using a Powerbook/MBP keyboard it just sucks. The keys go in way to hard and I constantly (well more or less) press the wrong buttons.
I still use it when at home but I don't think it is an awesome keyboard.
The Logitech mouse on the other hand was one of the best purchases I have made recently. Truly lives up to the hype.
