Curious as I want to match the speed and pre-order another 4gb of ram (2x2gb) and didn't know what speed they went with?

I assume its as easy as the old iMac's as far as a screw underneath the screen and snap them in?

Also just curious about if their was a brand name on the memory they used - not that it matters just curious?

I ordered base 4gb ram and I am guessing its 2x2gb and I here it has 4 slots so I will buy another 2x2.

Thanks,
Rich

Could find the answer to your question at www.apple.com mate. ;) The standard issue 27 inch iMac comes with:

4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; four SO-DIMM slots support up to 16GB

Yes installation is the same as the last couple of iMacs - 2 screws under the screen - pop out - pop in - done. Apple RAM brands vary between 2 - 3 Chinese manufacturers. I've often got the exact same kind of upgraded RAM that was in my Macs upon original purchase from Crucial for what that's worth.

I bought some cheap DDR3 from a guy on ebay with the following specs:

CAPACITY 8GB (2x4 GB 2Rx8 PC3-8500S-7-10-D1)
STANDARD PC3-8500
MEMORY SPEED 1066MHz (DDR3-1066)
CAS LATENCY CL8
ERROR CHECKING Non-ECC
REGISTERED Unbuffered
VOLTAGE 1.5V
FORM FACTOR 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM memory modules
CONFIGURATION Double-sided 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM modules
FEATURES Dual channel kit, matched 4GB modules

From the looks of my i7 apple uses Hynix cl7 latency ram whereas mine is cl8. This doesn't make a scrap of difference as far as I can tell so far.

Paid £240 for 2 x 4GB for Hynix branded ram off a dude on ebay which in my opinion is a bargain considering Crucials 2 x4GB is over £400!

He's currently got some bargain Samsung ram of the same spec:
