Dear all,

after a Carbon Copy Cloner I completely initialized my SSD internal drive and installed Mojave. I upgraded from Mavericks and thought that was the right time to a new installation after coming to HS with upgrade.

I'm experiencing typical GPU glitch in Mojave on the right side of my 32" LG monitor. Nothing similar in High Sierra. The strange thing is if I use the built in register function in Mojave to show you I can't get glitch...

Sometimes they happen also during mouse move or keyboard press. Haven't had any problem at all in High Sierra, like GPU hang or similar.

Thanks a lot for any hints
Claudio.

Have to update my post. In the doubt I had GPU fault after installing mojave I have restarted from my external USB3 ssd with the High Sierra Carbon Copy done before. No GPU glitch or problem at all. At this time mojave it's not completely stable, at least on my MacPro with dual D700 GPU. All perfect in High Sierra.

Yesterday I have re-installed Mojave from USB Stick. No problem at all, no glitch etc. After that I installed imazing (I have to access my iphone filesystem) and than installed combo update 10.14.2.

Glitch re-appeared. Very strange behavior. Have to do more test and step by step software installation.

Hey there

found that 10.14 gives no problem at all. No horizontal scan lines artifacts, glitch etc. As soon as I install 10.14.1 or 10.14.2 I have artifacts and minor glitch on the right side of the monitor.

Any help or hints on what's happening?

Thanks a lot.

I haven't heard any widespread reports. When it's isolated like this, the problem usually disappears with a software update. If you want to be proactive, contact LG and file a bug report with Apple.

Dear Flint

Thank you very much for answering me. Can you please tell me how to send a bug report to Apple?

This happens to me as well, I couldn't figure out what it was, thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for answering. Maybe title is a bit cryptic but I'm not able to change it.

Can you tell which monitor are you using?

Best,
Claudio.

I'm using the LG UltraFine 5k, I had thought that it was because of the wifi issue (I never did bother to get it fixed because it was never an issue) but glad to know it's not!

Same issue using a Dell 4k screen. Only started with 10.14.1 and no idea how to fix it. Seems to be dependent on particular apps, for example v bad with lightroom.

Yes I have it also in Lightroom. And it’s more annoying.

But also starting with fresh install without any app installed the problem is still present.

Dear all

Does anyone tryed the new 10.14.3? Is the problem still present?

10.14.4 out.

Anyone have tried it?

I no longer see it!

Usually when I have chrome and slack open (I think it's this combo), I'd get these screen tearing lines along the right middle area, I updated to .4 this am and haven't seen them once.

I didn't even think about it until I saw the notification for this thread! I hope everyone else has a similarly good experience.

Thanks a lot for answering. Really appreciated.

As for someone else 10.14.3 didn't solve the problem...
You can see my other post here:

It's back, it's not where it used to be... I have 5 different virtual desktops that I switch between and my apps stay fairly consistent on each one.

My first desktop, that typically has safari, iTunes messages, and mail open is now experiencing this behavior, it's not as bad as it was but it's here.

My MP 6,1 is now dead. It started kernel packing like crazy, then the screen started flashing between black and white, it stayed white and I manually restarted it where it only booted to a white screen.

:/

Bad news about your dead 6,1. Early D300's were problematic. Maybe D700's have their own issue that you are seeing? What year? Mine's from 2017 and haven't seen issue yet.

D700s had a ton of issues, to the point of Apple even hiding their forum on it:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6848249 (you can see it referenced here: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/06/late-2013-mac-pro-video-issues-repair-program/

2015, it's confirmed the D700 issue but Apple now wants $475 to fix it, though they said their internal program ended on January 10th of this year to do so for free.

This really sucks, I don't know how to justify putting $500 into that thing today, it's odd to me how it happened after going to 10.14.4 but I guess that's a coincidence until, if ever, it's not.

mmm not sure about what you are saying. As with 10.14 I haven't had any problem at all with my 2016 D700 GPU.

The artifacts come from 10.14.1.. So this point me to a software problem and not hardware.
In HS I have no problem at all.

Here: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-10-14-2-are-installed.2160309/#post-27234271
you can see problem in different machine with D500 also.

You have also to tell me why the problem is not present if I start mojave screen recording or I use a Linux or Windows virtual machine under VMWare Fusion. If it's hardware I presume I have to see the artifacts always.

:/

Maybe faulty D300. A friend of mine got a similar problem and one of the D300 was faulty. Apple support asked 250 euro for changing one GPU.

Only to confirm that the problem is still present also for me after 10.14.4 update.

I'm on an nvme driver with HS and installed the original disk to try.
