Basically, IDM is the absolute best download manager for windows bar none. It can download videos from literally anywhere, and most importantly it can also "grab" videos just by you playing it (ie if you press play on any video on the web, chances are you will be able to download it with an IDM chrome extension that pops up on top of the video).

Is there anything similar for mac?

I use Downie 4 and in my opinion its much better than IDM. Although its costs $20USD.
I got the cracked version, so I got it for free.
